Mountain hike up to Torhelm mountain, 2494m
It's an absolute insider's tip in the Tyrolean Lowlands. The Torhelm right at the end of the Langer Grund valley in Kelchsau is the highest peak you can hike up to in the Kitzbühel Alps. A magnificent panoramic view is guaranteed.
Arrival:
From Hopfgarten By car to the toll station in Kelchsau and further along the road to the Tiefentalam in the Langer Grund valley. Park there and head towards Oberkaralm at 1,612 m. Leaving the Öfeleralm behind the trail climbs up to the summit of the Torhelm at 1,988 m. Descend on the same trail.
Tip:
The alpine mountain hut Tiefentalalm (1.441 m) was built in 1530 and is the oldest alpine hut in the Kitzbühel Alps. The rustic interior with a 500 years old fireplace where the meals were cooked in earlier days, still reflects how alpine life must have been in the past.
A great excursion destination for bikers and families within an impressive alpine mountain scenery.
